The Vanguard Advances is the 119th chapter of the Kingdom manga, written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara.

Summary

Mou Ki notices that the Zhao Army's main offensive will be comprised of their left army and is made up of three divisions. The generals in charge are Shou Mou, Man Goku and Kou Son Ryuu each 20.000 strong. He deduces that Zhao will be aiming to penetrate Qin HQ right flank. Against this, Qin has deployed an army of 40,000 on the right. It is a concern whether or not the 4th army will be able to contribute to the main battle. Heki is placed at the left 4th army and might not see any battle at all.

Ka Ryo Ten then realizes that the deciding factor of this battle will be the clash between the tight instead if the center. Zhao offence lies in its left army of 60,000 strong and Qin's offensive lies in its center. General Mou Bu army in comprised of 20,000 of the 1st army. The Zhao army knows about Mou Bu offensive capabilities and of his lineage and therefore prepares for him. They are preparing a heavy Cavalry, however these don't rely on mobility, but in impact force.

Basically, both Zhao and Qin wish to have a contest of strength. Then both army calls the charge and Mou Bu is taking the lead as he easily defeats the first wave. Everyone is impressed with the display of power of Mou Bu, especially Shin. That cheer of joy was short tempered as Shou Mou shows his strength as well. Shin then sees Ou Ki approaching.
