Night In Kokuyou is the 451st chapter of the Kingdom manga.
Summary
Knowing that the Zhao are familiar with the terrain, Ten doubles the efforts of patrolling and defending the Hi Shin's camp and HQ at night. Apparently, Hi Shin Unit has lost contact with Kyou Kai and her scouting party after the chaotic battle of the first day, as reported by So Sui. Shin isn’t worried about Kyou Kai but is more worried about his failure today.
Meanwhile, Kyou Kai and her scouting party have a meeting. Kyou Kai knows exactly where the Hi Shin Unit, Zhao army and themselves are, pointing out that they are being isolated behind enemy lines.
As the Zhao they’re defending the frontlines well, it is hard for the scouting party to return to the Qin camp. While it is possible to return by taking the long way, detouring away from the front line separating the two armies, it is hard to navigate through the dark woods. Kyou Kai agrees that they should return and continue the fight tomorrow, but she thinks that their current position behind the enemy lines is a golden opportunity. Back in the camp, Ba'In, Kan Ki’s messenger, arrives and delivers Kan Ki's message to execute Shin for his failure while also insulting him. However, Kan Ki understands that losing an important commander at this moment is not a good idea and reduce the punishment to cutting off Shin’s right arm. While Ten is distress over it, Shin accepts and jokingly draws his sword to ask Ba'In which spot is good around the messenger’s own arm shocking everyone present. Ba'In asks Shin what his doing but the Hi Shin commander adamantly lashes out at them. Amused, Na Ki tells Ba'In that it looks like that threats won't work but the messenger says that he was actually was sent to take Shin's arm. Shin then orders So Sui to go dig a hole for the messengers and tell Kan Ki that they never arrived which shocks Ba'In even more. Shin adds on that he wants the messenger to return with the message that the Hi Shin Unit understands their blunder and will be the one to turn the tide of the battle, taking the head of Kei Sha, leading Qin to victory.
Na Ki, further amused, tells Ba'In that he will pay the debt for the blunder since he was also present but couldn't prevent it. With today’s encounter with the enemy, Ten says that she knows what to do and what not to do and promises with her head that Hi Shin Unit will break through the enemy front line and arrive at the side of the central hill tomorrow.
As expected, the Zhao launched a night attack on the Hi Shin camp at night but they were fully prepared for it as it did not worry Ten and Shin as. Instead, both of them are worried about Kyou Kai but can also see the perfect conditions for her to take action against the Zhao. Shin, thinking to himself, hopes that she isn't being reckless. Meanwhile as the moon hangs over the night, Kyou Kai and her men see the Zhao's encampment. Son Jin tries to stop her reckless plan of assassinating the Zhao commanders thinking that she's simply endangering herself, but Kyou Kai thinks that the reward of taking the head of a General leading tens of thousands of soldiers without shedding a single drop of blood outweighs the risk of her failing the assassination. Moreover, as a member of a clan infamous as assassins for over a thousand years, this should be an achievable task for her.
