The Depths of Darkness is the 666^th chapter of the Kingdom manga, written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara.

Synopsis

Kyou Kai remembers Yuu Ren's last words that the next Shiyuu will come to kill her. Kyou Rei says she will wait until Kyou Kai gets better, since she knows she is weakened. Kai tries to stop Rei from drawing her sword and asks what happened at the ritual. However, her sister overpowers her in a hand-to-hand exchange. Rei then realizes that Kai used the forbidden technique after sensing her damaged chi pathways and calls her an idiot for doing it. She also threatens to kill Shin since he was the one that Kyou Kai saved and the rest of the Hi Shin soldiers. She gives Kai three days to get better and leaves. Kyou Kai gets off the ground and explains to Shin that Rei is deep into the darkness, but she might still come back. However, if she succeeds in killing her then there would no longer be a return for her. Kai's plan is to recover in three days and subdue Rei. Ten asks who Rei is, and Kai tells her about her past, the deep bond she had with her sister, and how she suspected that Rei killed her sister. In the meanwhile, Kyou Rei collapses after hallucinating scenes of the Ritual and her childhood with Kyou Shiki in the forest.
